Cultures Age of Empires III introduced the concept of culture groups with the base game's civilizations versus those added in The WarChiefs and The Asian Dynasties. The mod is constantly growing and evolving, many more civilizations are planned to be added in the future as well as reworks of existing ones.
In addition to the originals from the base game, Wars of Liberty has greatly expanded the civilization roster and as of July of 2020 it features a total of 43 playable civilizations, which are sorted into different culture groups. Most had their rosters modernized to better fit the narrative era of the mod (1789-1914).
Wars of Liberty, much like the base game Age of Empires III, has two forms of civilizations: Playable major civilizations and alliable minor civilizations which will generally aid the playable civilizations after establishing a Trading Post with them.Ĭivilization Overview At the momment each civilization from Age of Empires III and the expansions (including civilizations only playable in the campaign: United States and Malta) are available to be played in Wars of Liberty and have been tweaked.
